As I write this week’s Pastor’s Gratitude Journal, I am reminded of Paul's words to the Ephesian church, "Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Ephesians 5:19b-20). At Good Shepherd, we have some many reasons to praise our Lord in an offering of thanksgiving as this past Sunday certainly proved.
I would like to offer my prayers of thanksgiving for Mr. Stan McDonald and his Mardi Gras Chorus, Ms. Sharon Wetzel, Mr. Mel Aucoin, Madison Graf and each and every person who donated a Pew Bible.
I’ll start with the Pew Bibles. This past Sunday, we dedicated, commissioned and blessed 80 Pew Bibles at Good Shepherd. No less than twelve families supported this campaign to place hard covered, large print, NIV Bibles in our pews. I would like to offer special thanks to Mel Aucoin and Madison Graf for their efforts in beautifully displaying our bibles on the Altar for Sunday’s dedication ceremony.
Also at our Sunday service, we were blessed to once again have our own Stan McDonald bring his friends from the Mardi Gras Chorus to church and serve as our musical guests for the morning. As always, their barbershop choral style presentation was an absolute joy to hear. They were even kind enough to entertain us after the service with some secular pieces in our fellowship hall as we gathered to enjoy ice cream sundaes after church.
Finally, and speaking of ice cream, I’m offering prayers of gratitude for Sharon Wetzel for taking charge of our “Sundae Sunday” after our Sunday service this week. The ice cream and toppings really hit the spot on such a warm August afternoon.
At Good Shepherd, the Lord just keeps pouring down His blessings, so like the Psalmist, I’m declaring “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord! Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150:6).
