This week’s Pastor’s Gratitude Journal is offering prayers of thanksgiving for NEW THINGS tried!
This coming Sunday, Crescendo will perform at our 10:00 AM worship service. Crescendo is the brainchild of our music director, Mr. Jordy Luft. Jordy noticed that many folks at church really love to sing, but busy schedules and other commitments keep them from formally joining the choir. Thus, one year ago this month, he premiered Crescendo, the mass choir that is open to anyone willing to show up in the choir room at 9:40 AM on the Sunday of performance.
Join me in offering prayers of gratitude for Jordy and all those voices who have made the new concept of Crescendo a now monthly fixture at Good Shepherd! (And be a part of Crescendo this Sunday by meeting in the choir room at 9:40 AM to learn the song. Absolutely no musical experience required!)
This past weekend, Good Shepherd experienced two other new events. On Saturday, October 31, we held our first (and hopefully annual) Trunk or Treat in the church’s parking lot and fellowship hall and a GREAT time was had by all in attendance! Please join me in offering prayers of thanksgiving and gratitude for Carrie and David Mains for all of their hard work in planning and executing this event. I’m also offering thanks-filled prayers for Mel and Margaret Aucion, Pete Hensley, Barry Triche and Jean Barovechio, all of whom braved the rain at the end of Trunk or Treat and helped disassemble the tents that were placed up in the parking lot. Special prayers of thanksgiving for everyone who participated by providing candy, decorating their vehicle, serving food or manning a booth.
And finally, on Sunday, November 1, Good Shepherd held her first ever All Saints Day observance at both the 8:30 AM and 10:00 AM services. Join me in offering prayers of gratitude for the Good Shepherd congregation who are willing to dedicate a service to honoring and remembering the faithful departed in our families and in our family of faith. I also ask you to join me in prayers of thanksgiving to Almighty God “who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God” (1 Thessalonians 1:4, NIV).
Thanksgiving…it’s not just a once a year holiday, it’s an attitude of gratitude!
